Vault - Dhaka's Newest Dining Experience That Goes Beyond The Plate

Updated: May 27

There’s a new name drawing whispers in Dhaka’s fine dining circles — Vault. And true to its name, it holds secrets. Secrets of flavour, of rhythm, of atmosphere, all tucked beneath the city’s surface in the basement of Banani’s Autograph Tower.

Born out of a shared love for indulgence and intentionality, Vault was founded by five partners, including creative director Mehruz Munir. “We all share a deep appreciation for the finer things in life,” Mehruz chuckles. “Being food enthusiasts, we wanted to merge these passions.” What emerged is a space where food, sound, and ambiance co-exist — not compete.

At the heart of it is Chef Nan Thaisuchat, a name you might recognise from the Michelin Guide. Brought in from Thailand, Chef Nan curates a contemporary Asian menu which is experimental yet respectful of tradition, bold without losing balance.

Think Ilish Lollipop — the nostalgia of Hilsha, reimagined. Or the duck confit, the kind that lingers long after you’ve left your seat.

The design draws from the sleek interiors of international gastro-lounges, but with regional heartbeat. You’ll catch nods to Asian minimalism, but there’s also an undeniable Dhakai attitude in the mix.

But Vault doesn’t stop at taste. The experience is layered with live music, resident DJs, flautists, and percussionists who turn dinner into performance. Thoughtfully designed soundscapes and lighting complete the spell, allowing you to dissolve into a bubble of rhythm, aroma, and mood, however briefly.

“We wanted Vault to be a multi-sensory experience,” Mehruz added. And it shows.

The journey hasn’t been seamless. Opened during a politically tense moment in the country, Vault’s soft launch was low-key, the space was slowly evolving, still pulling in interior elements piece by piece.

But even in this liminal state, the vision was clear and already compelling. Now it's open to all. Price points hover on the higher end, but as with any good secret worth unlocking, it’s the experience that justifies the indulgence.
