Bangladeshi Film 'Rehana Maryam Noor' Receives Standing Ovation At The 74th Cannes Film Festival



2021 Film "Rehana Maryam Noor" the first Bangladeshi Venture To Premiere in the 'Un Certain Regard' category at the 74th Annual Cannes Film Festival, receives a standing ovation at the screening. The film screened on the 7th of July at 3:15pm Bangladeshi time and was received with loud applauses and cheers as the cast and crew broke down into tears.


Lead Actress, Azmeri Haque Badhan along with Singaporean producer Jeremy Chua joined director and screenwriter Abdullah Mohammad Saad and the rest of the crew at the screening.


The plot of the film revolves around Azmeri Haque Bandhan who plays the protagonist Rehana Maryam Noor, an assistant professor at a local medical college and a widow with a daughter in first grade, who finds herself in an emotionally difficult situation after she witnesses a sexual assault where she knows and close with both the victim and the perpetrator.
